Attention:
As of May 15, 2023, the Air Traffic Control (ATC), Aircraft Surface Movement (ASM), and AOA Familiarization Icons will no longer require a stamp from LAX Airport Operations.
The new procedure for these icons requires the Computer Based Training (CBT) certificate, signed by the Authorized Signer, be printed and presented to the Security Badge Office (SBO) during the check-in process at the employee’s badge renewal appointment.

Authorized Signers
If you are an Authorized Signer (AS) and need to be enrolled in the Computer Based Training (CBT) system you must do the following:
- Enroll now or after attending the AS Initial Class and each time after the AS Refresher Class via the Security Badge Office (SBO) AS Credentialing System page.
- Click on FORMS, then click Authorized Signer - Computer Based Training Ops Icon Enrollment Form to enroll
- Once enrolled, the AS enrollment is only valid for 365 days from your AS Initial/Refresher Class training date so you will need to enroll again after you receive your next AS Refresher training
- An auto-reply enrollment confirmation email will be sent to you right away
- Another email will be sent to you with instructions soon after you initially enroll including your credentials
- Please allow three to five days for all CBT system access requests to be completed

Course Description and Requirements
AOA Familiarization Icon Training - Online Only
- Provided only to employees and contractors that have an operational need to be adjacent to specific movement areas
- Familiarizes LAWA personnel, tenants, and contractors with the airport layout
- Discusses airport terminology, airport layout, movement vs. non-movement areas, airport safety issues, taxiway/runway markings, lighting & signage, vehicle/pedestrian deviations, and construction safety
- Does not allow access onto active movement areas (taxiways, runways, and safety areas)
Training Requirements:
- Must complete every 24 months
- One-hour online course and successful passing of a 30-question test with a minimum score of 90%
- You must bring a copy of the AOA Familiarization training completion certificate, signed by your Authorized Signer, to your badge appointment
Aircraft Surface Movement (ASM) Icon Training - Online Only
- Required for any non-flight crew member who taxi or tow an aircraft a distance of more than 1,500 feet on LAX aircraft movement areas.
- LAWA ASM training is supplemental to company provided training (including OJT).

Training Requirements:
- Must complete every 12 months
- 1 ½ hour online course and successful passing of a 20-question test with a minimum score of 90%
- Applicant must hold a Restricted Area Driver icon on their badge
- You must bring a copy of both the ASM training and RAD training completion certificates, signed by your Authorized Signer, to your badge appointment

Air Traffic Control (ATC) Icon - Online Only with Prior Approval
- Applicable only to LAX Airport Operations, LAWA Maintenance, LAWA Airfield Bus Operations, LAFD and FAA Tech Ops – you must be on the approved list and receive a User ID from LAX Airport Operations.
- Discusses airport familiarization including airport markings, lighting and sign systems; procedures for access to, and operation in movement areas; ATC radio communications; vehicle/pedestrian deviations, construction safety, FOD and wildlife hazards.

Training Requirements:
- Must complete every 12 months
- 2 ½ hour online course and successful passing of a 30-question test with a minimum score of 90%
- Applicant must hold a Restricted Area Driver icon on their badge
- Applicants must be on the authorized ATC icon list to receive the stamp
- You must bring a copy of both the ATC training and RAD training completion certificates, signed by your Authorized Signer, to your badge appointment
- You must bring a badge application form completed and signed by your Authorized Signer
Restricted Area Driver (RAD) Icon - Online Only
- Provided to badge holders with a need to drive any vehicle or equipment on the vehicle service roads and ramp areas outside of tenant leaseholds

Training Requirements:
- Must complete every 24 months (NO LONGER ROLLS OVER AS OF AUGUST 1, 2020)
- One-hour online course and successful passing of a 30-question test with a minimum score of 80%
- You must bring a copy of the RAD training completion certificate, signed by your Authorized Signer, to your badge appointment

Aircraft Fueling Icon
- Provided to all airside drivers who also fuel aircraft

- Applicant must hold a Restricted Area Driver icon on their badge
- You must bring a copy of the Aircraft Fueling and RAD training completion certificates, signed by your trainer and/or Authorized Signer, to LAX Badge office
- You must bring a badge application form completed and signed by your Authorized Signer
Critical Icon - Online Only
- Provided to designated airport tenant employees who respond to incidents

- You must present approval email from LAX Emergency Management to your badge appointment
